Hugh McCulloch

Vocalist/Piano

Hugh McCulloch was born in Atlanta Georgia during the 2000’s. He played instruments like Violin and Clarinet through school but only started playing piano and singing in 2020.

He was inspired by Elton John and Freddie Mercury (who both sang and played piano) to want to perform and write songs.

Dalton Hix

Guitarist/Vocals

Dalton started playing guitar when he was 7 and discovered rock when he was 10. Dalton, like everyone in the band is a student of the @fac_greenville jazz program and plays piano and guitar. He pulls from influences like Black Midi, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, and a large variety of Jazz genres.

Making an Impact Across the Upstate!

Strange Orchard is a four piece rock’n roll band dedicated to creating and performing new and original popular music. Led by vocalist, pianist, and songwriter Hugh McCulloch; the group formed amidst the doldrums of the Coronavirus pandemic.

During the long days of isolation the band began to take root in their shared influences: The Beatles. Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, The Doors, Queen, and more.

As the shroud of the pandemic lifted, Strange Orchard began performing at open mic nights and small venues in Greenville and were immediately embraced by enthusiastic audiences won over by the band‘s energy and timeless appeal.

Modern Rock with a Retro Flair!

Hugh McCulloch was born in Atlanta Georgia during the 2000’s. He played instruments like Violin and Clarinet through school but only started playing piano and singing in 2020. He was inspired by Elton John and Freddie Mercury (who both sang and played piano) to want to perform and write songs. With help from his musician Dad and teachings at Fine Arts Center, he started to learn. Hugh now writes, sings, and plays piano for the band as well as being the founder. Some of his biggest influence include Paul McCartney, Queen, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Elton John.

Andrew Addis was born and raised in Greenville, SC. His love for music became apparent at a very young age, and by the time he was just eight years old he was learning to play the piano and studying music theory. From there, Andrew took his training along with his natural talent and ear for music and began to teach himself to play various percussion and string instruments while also continuing to play piano for his jazz studies’ class. Andrew’s draws inspiration from jazz, punk, and legendary rock artists including Led Zeppelin, Rush, AC/DC, Ramones, and Pink Floyd.
